When a 118-year-old needs a facelift, who should you call?
If the centenarian is the original and historic Mississippi University for Women Alumnae Association, it is clear that the right person to call is Eric Stars.
Stars, a Nashville-based graphics designer, took on our association’s recent identity makeover at the request of his fiancée and MUW alumna Sydney Evans. “She pretty much has free reign to do what she wants with my time,” Stars said, noting that Sydney is “really passionate” in her support for our 118-year-old alumni organization.
Evans had participated in a Spring Planning Retreat held by the alumni group in Columbus. Association leaders believed it was time for a change and a more contemporary “look” for the organization, which did not even have a logo to use when presenting itself to the public. That’s when Evans nominated Stars for the job. And because our alumni association, like many similar organizations, relies on donations to meet expenditures, the young couple even agreed that Stars would donate the logo design package to the MUW Alumnae Association.
