If I Give Money to MFAeA, Where Does It Go and How Is it Used?

MFAeA offers several opportunities to provide support for MUW’S fine faculty members and outstanding students as well as to support the business and sponsored activities of MFAeA.

Dues: Association dues are $40.00 per fiscal year, May 1 – April 30. Since we receive no support from the University to conduct the business of the association, dues are used for scholarships and awards, operating expenses (mailings, software, visibility items, etc.), hospitality events for alums, faculty and students.

Scholarships: One of the primary missions of MFAeA is helping recruit students through scholarship awards. Two new scholarships were approved this year:

Legacy Scholarship: this scholarship provides first semester’s tuition to a student who is a legacy. Students must submit application and meet established criteria. Recipient will be announced at Homecoming.

Memorial Scholarship: This scholarship was established to pay tribute to the four freshmen who perished in a fire in January and to become a permanent repository for Memorial Donations made for friends and loved ones you may wish to honor in the future.

Faculty Grants/Awards: 0ne $250 project grant per each of the four colleges. Must be applied for by faculty member. One $1000 award to a new (less than 5 years) faculty member. Must be nominated by departmental chair. Recipients announced at end of spring semester.

All contributions should be sent to: Deborah Hodges, MFAeA Treasurer: 800 Hillcrest Road, No. 1, Mobile, AL 36695
