MUW Homecoming 2008 will once again be a time for renewing our commitment and support for our alma mater while we catch up with friends old and new. A full slate of activities to celebrate all returning alums has been planned, while focusing on reunion years that end in 3 and 8. Everyone should receive a detailed schedule and a reservation form from the Alumni Office.

Whether you just graduated or are celebrating your Golden year, Homecoming 2008 will offer something special for you. There will be a Young Alum party, multiple celebrations for the Golden Girls (class of '58), tours of the campus and Columbus, a theater/musical presentation for entertainment, a Blues and Barbecue picnic.and our Alumnae Association will host a gathering aptly called "The Party" for all alums on Friday night.

Of course, some of the greatest pleasures of Homecoming are the unstructured and informal times spent just sitting around talking with friends and remembering.the way we were.

In many ways, this Homecoming will be like those of preceding years. However, this year's Homecoming will also be marked by a development that some may find confusing. .confusing because MUW now has two Alumnae/i associations, and there will be no business meeting at Convocation this year.

You will note in the official Homecoming brochure that separate Board and Business meetings are scheduled for the two associations. It is unfortunate that these meetings are scheduled concurrently in different locations on campus, an overlapping which will prevent alums from attending both of the sessions to make an informed judgment about the differences between the two organizations.

Susan Rayner Puckett, the current Alumnae Association President, invites you to maintain or establish your membership with us and join us for our Board meeting at 1:30pm on Friday in Nissan Auditorium and our business meeting at 11:30am on Saturday in the rear section of Whitfield Auditorium.

At the business meeting we will hear the report of the nominating committee, accept nominations from the floor, elect officers, vote on passing a new, comprehensively revised set of by-laws, announce the winners of this year's Alumnae Achievement Awards, hear reports on the work of our committees, including one on the status of legal issues with the university, and conduct any other business relevant to the life of our association.

This is a critical time in the life of your Alumnae Association. Your participation at Homecoming and throughout the year is more important than ever. With your help we can continue successfully meeting our Association's goals.

President-Elect Kym Gore pledges that, "as we have for 118 years, we will continue to support our Alma Mater in fulfilling its historic mission as a leader in providing a quality education for women, while meeting the needs of the increasingly diverse population it now serves."
