Lenore Shields Griffin ‘70 Bio

I graduated from Mississippi State College for Women in 1970, with a BFA degree in Art Education. After teaching in Georgia, I returned to Mississippi where I worked as an Admissions Representative for MSCW, and eventually became the Assistant Director of Admissions.
In 1979, my family moved to Ackerman, MS, and I began a new career as legal secretary and office manager of my husband’s law office. I remained there for almost 30 years, until we closed the office this year.
I have worked as a volunteer and as an officer in many local civic organizations, in addition to being a supporter of our schools and an active member of our church. While our sons were growing up, I served as a Cub Scout leader, Cub Master and Troop Committee secretary and T-ball coach. In our church I have held various positions over the years from volunteer secretary and sound system operator for 15 years to presently serving as a Trustee. Living in a small town allows many opportunities to serve!
I am in my 6th year as Choctaw County’s representative to the Tombigbee Regional Library Board, and serve this year as the Board President.
