Mississippi's First Alumnae Association, the original organization for alumnae and alumni of Mississippi University for Women, re-affirms its support for the university and its historic mission. We are unwavering in our commitment to the W as an independent institution and encourage all alumnae and alumni to join with us in urging Mississippi's leaders to seek creative solutions to the state's fiscal challenges while continuing to meet the diverse higher education needs of its students.

MUW was founded as the nation's first public institution of higher learning for women and fulfills a unique role in Mississippi’s university system. The primary considerations in making decisions regarding state institutions of higher learning should be what is best for education and the long-term success of the state. Mississippi University for Women is important to Mississippi's future, and Mississippi's First Alumnae Association stands as its staunch advocate as we move through the current state budgeting process.

Friends of The W has coordinated two strategic planning meetings for creating and coordinating response to closure/merger talks concerning the W.

These meetings are open to anyone who supports the continuation of the W as an independent, free-standing institution. Feel free to invite friends or associates to participate.
